MUS strongly condemn Trump’s administration’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital

The Trump’s administration’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital as well as also announcing the plans to move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem will escalate violence in Palestine, the Arab and rest of the world. Despite all the condemnation to this decision, Trump went ahead and announced his decision.

We stand by our Prime Minister, Mrs. Teresa May, as she said that Trump’s move ‘marks the beginning of a new approach to conflict between Israel and the Palestinians’ and that it was not in America’s interests.

This decision has also destroyed all hope for the two states’ plan that was proposed by the United Nations. We believe that there is no alternative to a two-state solution, and Jerusalem is key to any peace agreement. It is imperative to work fast to reach a final status solution and a peace agreement but this might destroy all hopes for peace.

Ignoring Palestinian Muslims and Christians rights in the holy city could fuel another Palestinian uprising in the west bank and Gaza strip.
MUS denounce this decision and consider it an inhumane act that ignores the rights of Palestinians in the holy city of Jerusalem.
