MUS Strongly Condemn the killing and genocide of the Rohingya Muslims in Burma (Myanmar)

Date : 04/09/2017 Press Release
Majlis e Ulama e Shia Europe, Strongly Condemn the killing and genocide of the Rohingya Muslims in
Burma (Myanmar), over 400 people including women and children have been killed in the past week.
Over nighty thousand people have been displaced from their homes and forced to take refuge in border
of neighbouring countries such as Bangladesh. With over a million Rohingya people living in
Myanmar, the law placed by the Government in 1982 that doesn’t allow people to attain the Burmese
citizenship if they’ve settled there after 1823, has caused long disheartening friction between the
Government of Myanmar and the Rohingya people
Majlis e Ulama e Shia Europe, strongly condemn these acts of terror against the innocent Rohingya
people of Myanmar. Over 2500 Homes have been burnt, women and children have also been killed
without mercy.
Our hearts go out to those impacted by the killings and to those individuals who’ve lost their lives in
these horrendous attacks taken out by Government troops and extreme Buddhist.
The UK, European, and Shia communities as well as Shia Scholars, express their heartfelt
condolences to families who’ve lost innocent loved ones, to the Global Muslim community and the
loved ones of the innocent victims.
We demand that the United Nations, OIC, Human Rights Organisations and the Chinese Government,
take action against stopping these horrific killings. We also demand that the Government of Myanmar
stop these acts of brutal killings on the Muslims of Rohingya and to provide citizenship to those living
there for several decades.
