ISLAMOPHOBIC TERRORIST KILLS 50 MUSLIMS IN NEW ZEALAND MOSQUES
Dated: 15th March 2019

Majlis e Ulama e Shia Europe condemns the terrorist attacks that took place in Noor Mosque and Linwood Mosque, Christchurch, New Zealand today after the weekly Friday prayers, in which over 50 people were killed and scores are injured, one of the worst terrorist attacks on NZ soil.
At these difficult times, our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those affected by this heinous crime.

MUS President, Sayyid Ali Raza Rizvi, said in a statement: “Surely we are from God, and unto him is our return. Undoubtedly it is Islamophobia that has contributed to Christchurch terrorist attacks. Most of the victims were those who had migrated to New Zealand with the hope of a better life.”

MUS requests that scholars and managing committees to remain calm but vigilant and review their security measures urgently.
MUS calls on the authorities to take quick and effective action in bringing the perpetrators to justice and ensuring the safety of all citizens especially the Muslims in New Zealand.

1. MUS is the largest Shia umbrella organisation of scholars and communities in Europe, representing over 70 centres for the last 25 years.
